I am writing to share an exciting opportunity for teachers in California. You are invited to attend the third annual Better Together: California Teachers Summit, a unique day of learning led by teachers, for teachers. The theme this year is “Now More Than Ever,” which reflects the importance of bringing teachers together to listen and learn from one another. The summit will provide teachers with the opportunity to share ideas, join a teacher network, and learn effective strategies for implementing the new California Standards in their classrooms. The event is FREE to all California PreK-12 teachers, teacher candidates, school administrators, and other educators. Continuing education credits will also be available to interested teachers at a minimal cost. The event will take place on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and an additional professional development opportunity with lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. will bepresented by National University. The event will be held at 35 locations throughout the state, including the Town & Country Resort Hotel and Convention Center hosted by National University. Teachers can reserve their spot today at CATeachersSummit.com
The Summit is a cooperative project of The Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU), the California State University (CSU), and New Teacher Center (NTC). This year’s event will feature keynote addresses by education leaders, TED-style EdTalks presented by local teachers, and EdCamp discussions on timely topics ranging from addressing bullying in the classroom to celebrating diversity to teaching students to be open-minded and critical thinkers.
We know teachers want to hear and learn from one another, so please spread the word to your fellow teachers. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates, and join the conversation using the hashtag #BetterTogetherCA.
We hope to see you at the Summit on July 28!
